PRE-SEASON
SEPTEMBER 2010 YARD SALE FUNDRAISER
The September 25th yard sale, with proceeds benefitting the PRHS Wrestling program went extremely well. To all those families who donated items, WE CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH! You really came through exceeded our expectations. We had a lot of success because of the really great stuff that was donated. We also had a really good time! The Takedown Club Board would like to extend special recognition and thanks to the following people who helped us run a truly successful and fun event:
Wrestlers and Wrestlerettes- these guys and gals were FANTASTIC at the marketing side of things; dressing in goofy outfits, holding up signs, carrying heavy things and really drawing in the traffic. Most were there, working hard just about ALL DAY. Many were even able to get donations from passerbys who couldn't even stop by to shop at the sale! With huge thanks for their enthusiastic and really great work efforts the Takedown Club would like to recognize: Eleni Rivera, Ana Collazo, Alyssa Vong, Karina Flores, Corey Cramer, Daniel Williams, Tre Horton, Will Hornsby, Drew Harrison, Casey Harrison, Mac Shiver, Gavin Cagle, and Jonny Parr.
Parents: - The squad of parents who came out to help on Saturday was also nothing short of superb. THANK YOU SO MUCH to:
Farrah Sinnott, Kristin Cox, Rob and Sherry Horton, Kristi Ferguson, Mark Fischer, Todd Shiver, Jenny Cagle and Elinda Eakins.
Last but certainly not least, huge thanks to Mr. Craig Sartain for hosting this event at his place of buisness, a really great location that postioined us well, and for prepping and directing and selling his heart out!

After practicing almost daily during the month of June, the Lions finished with an extremely impressive 8-1 dual result during the the Militia Duals on the weekend of June 18th. The team wrestled great and the coaches are very proud of them for coming together as a dual team in the off-season and really going after it! Thanks to all the parents who came out and provided so much great fan support. The UTC Team Camp the following week provided a great developmental opportunity for the attending wrestlers as well.
The Varsity Wrestling Season kicked off with two events over the Thanksgiving break. On Wednesday 11/24, they went 2-3 at Parkview Panther Duals, beating Henry County and Morgan County and losing tough matches to Woodland, Loganville (by one point), and Parkview.
On Friday and Saturday. 11/26-11/27). The Varsity Lions brought 10 wrestlers to the Norcross Blue Devil Classic and returned with 9 champions, 1 second place finisher and the team championship. Champs were:119: Gavin Cagle

At 112, Joseph Chung placed second.
Union Grove took 1st Place at this year's Peachtree Ridge Lions' Duals Tournament on December 4th. Milton HS took second. With 5 starters out PR's banged up lineup would lose 2 more to injury by the end of day one. Forced to forfeit 24 points per match, PRHS still was able to go 4-3. Drew Harrison (152) and Michael Chapman (215) went undefeated, pinning all of their opponents. Chapman was also voted the heavyweight outstanding wrestler for the tournament. 09-04-2010 Mike Chapman wins 215lb title in first ever Super 32 GA Qualifier Tourn.
The Lions had 5 placers at the Brandon HS - Jim Graves Tournament December 11-12: Congratulations:

Dec 29th, The Varsity Lions placed an impressive 8th out of 32 participating teams at the 2010 Tiger Holiday Classic Tournament in Chapel Hill NC. The FOUR placers at this highly regarded tournament were:
@ 125lbs; Mac Shiver - 4th place (from 11th seed! 6-2)
@ 140lbs; Tre' Horton - Tournament Runner Up (3-1)
@ 145lbs; Drew Harrison - 5th Place (5-2)

ALL EIGHT PRHS wrestlers who placed in the top four at the Region 7-AAAAA tournament on the weekend of Feb. 5th advanced to the State Tournament by placing top eight at the Georgia East Sectional Tournament on February 12th. This is an outstanding result that officially signifies wrestling excellence. The 2011 PRHS Wresstling State Qualifiers were:

After a rough first day the JV squad battled back and ended up with 5 wrestlers placing at the JV County Tournament at Mill Creek HS on Dec. 17th and 18th. Congratulations to:

JV KING OF THE HILL
2010-11 JV RESULTS
The JV ended a fine season at the King of the Hill Tournament on Saturday, January 29. Congratulations to the 2011 Peachtree Ridge King of The Hill placers: Austin Lloyd, 4th place at 125lbs, Phillip Galioto 6th place at 160lbs, and Abel Leonardo, 4th place at 171lbs. Honorable mention performances were turned in by Foley Akanmu at 130lbs, Dominique Dubois at 189, Ryan McGee at 215 and Corey Cramer at heavyweight. Coach Harris would like to thank all of the JV parents for their great support and a great season overall.

The Varsity Lions placed a strong 5th out of 19 teams in the 2010 Gwinnett County Tournament with THREE Champions, three 3rd place finishers and a fifth place finisher. Great job all wrestlers. Congratulations to the Peachtree Ridge 2010 Gwinnett County placers:

The annual wrestling banquet celebrating memories and results of the 2010-11 JV and Varsity teams was held on Sunday March 27th. It was a delicious potluck supper and an overall great time. Many thanks to all who helped bring it all together especially Kristy Ferguson and the whole Horton clan, notably our dedicated and multi-talented wrestler, Tre' Horton who spent countless hours putting toegether a fabulous video presentation. Thanks to all the coaches for a wonderfully successful Season 10! See ya next year!
2010-11 SEASON BANQUET
This event was a tremendous success thanks to everyone who volunteered time and made or brought the needed items. Considerable funds were raised which will greatly benefit the ongoing program. Special thanks to our Youth and Middle School program families. Your generosity, time devotion and enthusiasm levels were remarkable! You are a great group of folks setting a fantastic example for our youth regarding community service and the importance of volunteerism. Bravo Team! Well done and once again, many, many thanks to all who helped out!
FEB 26TH YOUTH STATE QUALIFIER
FRESHMAN STATE
PRHS Freshmen Gavin Cagle, Demarcus Moore, Jermaine Moore and Jonny Parr competed on March 12th at the second annual Freshman State Tournament. Placers were Demarcus Moore 3rd Place and Jonny Parr 5th Place.
FIVE PLACERS AT 2011 STATE TOURNAMENT
PRHS sent an impressive eight wrestlers to the individual state tournament February 17-19, 2011 and put together a 4th place team finish. This puts the first top five team finish into the school's record book. Demarcus Moore (103), Drew Harrison (145) and Bradley Heugh (160) went deep into the pre-placement rounds contributing many team points and finishing just shy of medals. The remaining five PRHS state qualifiers placed at the State Tournament this year. PRHS Fans, your 2011 State Placers are:
